A Professional Bridal Makeup Artist's Guide to Wedding Day Do's and Don'ts

Your wedding day is one of the most special moments of your life, and looking your absolute best is undoubtedly a top priority. As a professional bridal makeup artist, I've gathered some crucial do's and don'ts to ensure your wedding day beauty goes off without a hitch.

Don'ts:

1. Say No to Excessive Spray Tan: Opt for a light spray tan for your face to avoid a patchy appearance. Too much spray tan on the face can negatively impact your makeup base.

2. Steer Clear of a Lash Lift Close to the Big Day: Avoid getting a lash lift at least 8 weeks before your wedding. Lash lifts can interfere with the application of false lashes and may pose risks if not done correctly. If you haven't had lash extensions before, consider trying them well in advance to prevent any unexpected reactions.

Do's:

1. Morning Skincare Routine: On the morning of your wedding, have yourself and your bridal party stick to their regular skincare routine. While I'll prep your face before makeup application, having a well-hydrated face from the start is essential.

2. Create a Details Box: Prepare a details box the night before your wedding, including shoes, perfume, jewelry, and anything you want your photographer to capture. This thoughtful gesture ensures that everything is in one place, minimizing stress during the hair and makeup session.

3. Curate a Calming Playlist: Choose a playlist to play on the morning of your wedding that keeps you and your bridal party feeling calm and ready for the day ahead. Music sets the tone and adds a touch of relaxation to the preparations.

4. Delegate Responsibilities: Select someone in your bridal party to handle final details and provide information to others on your behalf. This person can also ensure everyone stays fed and hydrated—a seemingly small task that often slips brides' minds amidst the excitement.

5. Relax and Enjoy: Finally, take a moment to relax and enjoy the day with your closest friends and family. Consider a glass of champagne to calm any nerves. You're about to embark on the best day ever, and I'm honored to be a part of it!

Remember, your wedding day is a celebration of love, and feeling confident and beautiful only enhances the magic. Cheers to a flawless and joyous wedding day!
